does anybody know how to get the fine swirl marks out of acrylic? i was using the novus 3 step. i did the number 3 and 2 and it looked pretty good and then did another step 2 and it is very hazy when i shine a light on it. do i keep going with the step 2?

I just finished polishing my tank using Novus products. Are you polishing by hand or with a buffer? If by hand, try a buffer. Mine turned out great with no swirls. I used sanding blocks then Novus 3 and 2.

I got tired of hand polishing, and on a hunch, bought a "Mother's Headlight Lens cleaning kit" at my Auto Parts store.
It comes with the buffer attachment for your drill, and about 8 Oz. of the solution.

So , for $24 I got a product that worked better on my tank than the $40 kit I had bought at the Aquarium store, and It took me 10 minutes to do my 160.

With a drill attachment buffer you are spinning the whole buffer round it's center, unless you move it all the time you will get swirls. Something like a small power sander doesn't spin the buffer around instead it moves it around at high speed without spinning (cr_p description), a bit like a very fast "wax on, wax off" (karate kid) but only actually moves the buffer maybe an eighth of an inch in any one direction so you don't get the swirls (unless you kept it in one place all the time in which case you would get loads of tiny half inch diameter swirls!).

Now someone else will explain this a lot better and my answer will look like cr_p!
