Acrylic or glass? 500+

So many considerations…budget…weight/ease of moving…permanent scratches vs ability to buff out scratches…etc etc

I have a 10x3x2.5 560gal acrylic tank. It was an absolute beast to move with 7 men. I cannot imagine moving a tank the same or similar dimensions made of glass.

If you can afford it I would go with a well made acrylic tank personally. No silicone seals to worry about. Can buff out scratches. “Less” difficult to maneuver (still difficult though). My 2 cents 👍🏼

I would go with acrylic for anything over 150gal myself. My three tanks are acrylic. I see their main drawback as being easier to scratch but having learned just how careful one needs to be fairly early on, since then it has been smooth sailing with no stratches. And then there are the multiple advantages of acrylic tanks: lighter, better tranparency/clarity, insulates better against temperature change, more impact resistant.
