Hey everyone, I am new here and at the chance of repeating previous posts, have a couple of questions.

Looking at upgrading to a 6x2x2 tank soon.
The question is, should I go with acrylic or glass? I know that acrylic can scratch easier, but it is so much lighter...
Also, I have read a few horror stories about glass tanks leaking/ shattering on here, so that is another concern.
If I do decide on an acrylic tank, are there other good vendors besides truvu and midwest? And how thick should
the acrylic be on a tank of that size?

Thanks so much for any input!

That size definitely glass. Acrylic scratches by looking at it. If I was able to move a 750 gallon glass tank I'd have one in a heartbeat I am so careful with my acrylic and it is constantly scratches. I even use felt pads under my Magfloats to clean algae. I hate it during the day when the lights are off and the natural sunlight hits it. Plus you should be able to pick up a used 180g glass tank pretty cheap

Who cares if it's heavy..you plan on walking around with it on your back.glad looks killer too.harder to scratch, last a long time without fade

Wow, looks like it's personal preference... Hmm, so I am stuck again. Weight is not an issue, since the tank will be on concrete, other than moving it in the house.
It does sound like they do scratch a lot easier than I thought.
Those that are pro-acrylic, would you give some reasons, please?!
