I drained my 72x30x25 to remove scratches and I'm about 2 hours into the removal process but not seeing any results. I am using the novus 3 step system with their drill attachment. Should I sand it then use the novus? I have a palm sander, just back and forth not orbital, will that work. Here are some of the scratches, these are typical for my scratching. If you try real hard you can sorta feel them when you drag your nails across them.

Those my friend aren't scratches, that is crazing. Acrylic gets micro stress fractures just beneath the surface during manufacture and transport. When tanks age and get old, or when cleaned with abrasive chemicals, this becomes visible. There is no remedy for crazing other than annealing in a massive oven. Which isn't an option. It's only a major problem when present in the seams with white patches (separation). Do the seams have this "spiderweb" like cracking in them? Any white spots?

You'll have to live with them unfortunately. You can spend another week and they'll still be there.

There are some small spots on the outside of the seams. The crazing isn't really noticeable until you're within 5' of the tank so I can live with them, but maybe I should start softening the wives stance on upgrading. Thanks for the tip, at least I don't have to waste more time on this dead horse.

I would just keep an eye on the seams. Take a picture or memorize what they look like now, so if they progress over time you are aware. Good luck
