I have a Marineland Model 4 sump and I have been using it for about 5 months now. I have noticed recently that a crack developed in the middle right at where the side meets the bottom piece and it has spidered a bit. I noticed a couple other places had cracks as well. Obviously I don't want to the cracks to start leaking. The acrylic is 3/16" thick.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned about this?

Yes, this is an issue, you will probly want to get it fixed by a professional or just buy a new one. You dont want to go on a two day trip friday and come back sunday with your house flooded and so on so fourth......

This is not great news at for me. I will have to start my setup over again because the sump wouldn't fit in my AGA tank stand and I had to rip a board out to get it in and nail the board back in. I was planning on this being a permanent part of my setup. I guess this stand wasn't made for a sump either because the bottom of it bowed after a few days. It is a really thin plywood bottom. I wasn't figuring on the weight of the sump to cause this issue. I have seen some stands that come with doors on the side to allow the sump in. I will probably have to get a new stand too. :(

Depending on how wide the sump is as compared to your stand, you might be able to cut in a door on the side if your stand allows for that.

I don't know if the sides are supporting structures or not or if they are only the corners. I would have to contact the manufacturer about that.

That was a great suggestion! Marineland said they will replace the sump. The problem is now I have to get the sump out of my AGA stand that I had to pull a board out to get it in when I first set the tank up. Now I can't get it out of the stand without completely taking down my tank!

Its Great that you are getting a new sump, but the stand is kind of a bummer, how big is your tank that you have on it?

My tank is a 210 and the dimensions are 72 ½”L x 24 ½”W x 29 5/8”H.
