I am in the process of setting up my 240G that I got used from CL.....I finished the stand and everything is level. The tank seems to have a bow in it that I thought was worth asking about. Is this normal???? Will it level itself out once filled???? Will acrylic tanks retain memory and form to the stand??? Any help would be great as now this project is on hold untill I can find some answers....I would hate to have any issues when working with 240G of H2O

I am also setting up two acrylic tanks...One bows in the middle near the bottom...the tanks are empty...they came from Tenecor and the quality is great...
I leveled and re leveled the stands and it is now dead on the money...
there is still a bit of a bow but it's acrylic not glass so I'm not to concerned..
Did you level your stand before the tank was put in place????
If you decide to shim it, make sure you put the shims on the floor under the stand,
not under the tank!!!!!!!!!! Keep me posted, I'm curious if acrylic retains memory.....

looks like the person you bought it off of didnt store it flat try some weight on each end to flatten it out but i would fill it my 180 was in the guys back yard when i got mine when i filled it up it flattend it self back out remember acrylic isnt glass it will move

I think I will fill it up all the way and let it sit in the garage a few days and see what happens. Like I said the stand is level, the uneven part is the tank.

Well after letting the tank set for a day or so, the gaps and bow seemed to go away mostly. The is now only some areas where there is about a 1/8th" gap between the edge and the tank. Most areas are flat now though. I think I should be good once the 1/2" foam is under the tank to take up the slack for that 1/8th"

As for memory, after I drained the tank the larger bow came back on the bottom and the top. Maybe they would stay out if I left it longer???? I think the added weight of gravel with the water will allow the tank to sit nicely on the foam pad.
