Are there any special requirements for a canopy used on a acrylic tank? I have a canopy that I have been using on my glass tank but was wondering if I would be able to transfer it over on the acrylic tank?

Also the depth on my canopy would be about 6 inch short for the acrylic tank I would like to get... but my canopy is open in the back so it could slide over the rim of the acrylic tank leaving a 6 inch gap.... would this put any uneven strain to the acrylic tank top? I guess i could build a second piece to add to the canopy and fill the gap but would like your guys thoughts on this? thx

I have two acrylic aquariums that came with acrylic canopies. They only contact the top of the tank with two narrow acrylic feet. I think heat from the lights would be the main concern.

yeh that was my next concern... whether or not I could rest my light fixture on top of the tank like I did with the glass tank? So your canopy rests on the rims of your acrylic tank?

Yeah, two feet rest on the front edge of the tank. Then there are 2-3 hinges on the rear edge. Not a whole lot of support but it seems to work.
