Parellel lines are running across the top of the whole tank. Its a used tank I bought. are these normal? or am I doomed for failure? Tank has been holding water over a week.
no the seam is fine with the exception of a few lines that dont even go a quarter of the way through from the outside. its prolly just because a light is on.
My Tenecor has the same thing. If you take your fingernail and run it against the surface of the crazed area you will notice very little depth intrusion, and looking at these areas on a certain angle with the tank light on makes them very visible.
I would'nt worry that much about it,unless there is visible seperation between joined panels.
I have something like that also, but not to the same extent. The funny thing is that mine is also on the top where the lid meets the tank. I don't see this on any of the other joints.
The location of the cracks is interesting. I wonder if it was caused by flame polishing. Heat seems to be one cause as I've had acrylic items (cups, etc.) in the dishwasher develop those cracks. They eventually became full thickness cracks that leaked. I no longer use them but if I get bored one day, I might put Weldon 3 in the cracks to try to fix them.
