I have a 500 gallon acrylic tank where the previous owner removed the in-tanjk overflows (4) and plugged the old bottom drain with 1/2" plate of acrylic glued to the bottom of the tank (se picture). I removed the remaining overflow walls (around the drain hole) with a Dremel tool and apparently created some channels in the 1/2" acrylic plate, the tank leaks quite a bit now, water going under the acrylic plate and out the old bottom holes.

Help (2 of 2) I have read many posts with much interest on this site. I need the expertise and advice of this community to help me resolve these leaks under the 1/2" acrylic plates. The idea I have come up with is to build a "dam" around the leaking acrylic plates with 1/2" rectangular acrylic bar stock. The stock would be glued to the bottom of the tank with Weld-on 16. I would also squirt some Weld-on 4 under the edges of the acrylic plates to soak into some of the voids/channels I created with the Dremel. Lastly and most importantly I will fill the area between the "dam" and the acrylic plate with Weld-on 40 to the the height of the plate (approx. 1/2"). Please see the picture below. The "dam" is light green, and the Weld-on 40 is blue. Will this work? Key tips? Better alternative? My wife is on my back for the money I have in this project, so resolving this will help family "dynamics".
