To make a long story short, I ordered a jardini arowana and ended up with both a baby jardini and a baby black. They didn't get along in my 210g so I scooped the black into my 55 community tank temporarily. I was planning on rehoming him but now I'm attached. So I'm trying to buy him a new/proper home.

He's so personable that I decided to swing for a huge (300g+) fish tank instead of a pond. The problem is my basement. The door frames are only 28''. I'm willing to cut off the framing and re add it but realistically that only gets me to 30'' ish. Ideally I'd want a black to have at least 36'' to turn in.

If I buy something like this (96''Lx48''Wx24''H) could I rotate it on its side just to get it through the door? Or would I seriously risk breaking it?

Thanks!

More than fine to do this with acrylic tanks… only way to get them through a door. Can move them any way u need too. Only thing to be concerned about is lifting acrylic tanks by the top braces only.

It should be fine. As said above, just make sure each person is supporting both sides where they are holding the tank. And make sure the tank doesn't make contact with any walls or the floor as they are moving it or else you will end up with scratches on the acrylic.

When I moved my 450gal (96"x36"x30") into my home it took four guys from my work to do it. Not nearly as heavy as glass but acrylic tanks this large are still really heavy.

Awesome, thanks for the input! Glad I can probably make it work. I've only ever had glass tanks before and those were so heavy/fragile I wouldn't try it. Will definitely get lots of help when this new one comes in.
