This may seem like a dumb question, but why is it that every Acrylic Tank has two rectangular holes in the top instead of a completely open top like glass tanks?

good question

my guess is that the the top panel is added as a brace to keep the tank stable when filled, so they just cut 2 recangular hole so you can access the inside

I had the same thought, but on a wide tank, I think itd be a bit a tough thing to work threw those holes as all the ones Ive seen are like the width of a strip light or less. an frankly I think my arm would get stuck in one of those holes, since im Often close to being up tp my shoulder in the tank. well atleast with a 24" high tank.

yea i know what thats like, i use a soft watercloth to get the inside of my tank and it can be tedious, but you get use to it after awhile, but my arm doesent get stuck.
