Hey guys,

I've got a 40 gallon Acrylic tank that I am in the process of setting up. I'm wondering if it will be safe to place it on my kitchen countertop, my place is 1 year old and everything seems very sturdy. My only concern is that the about 5 inches of the tank will be on the counter top that is not supported by anything undernearth. You can tell by the picture how much is overhanging, do you all think this will be stable and support the tank? Or would you advise bracing the section of the counter top not supported? I would appreciate the insight.

not to bash or anything but 2 2x6s 8 foot long will hold up most cars that being said i think alot of people including me tend to add more support then is generally needed mostly for piece of mind. I would say if the house was built with in the last 5 years then it will hold the weight easily. Most think 400lbs i cant lift it or it will break this or that. But its the psi or pounds per square inch that matters most. Its acrylic so its flat on the bottom. Dimensions would help some. if its 2'x2' square and being acrylic its flat bottom thats less then 2 pounds per square inch. But just IMHO.

It's almost centered over the vertical wall of the cabinet below it. You'll be OK. Just make sure there are no leaks!

It seems like it should work.

A bit off topic, but I saw a video of some morons putting firecrackers in a 10g on the counter...the broke it. Hilarious!
