So for the most part everything I need/ need to know is done, bought, printed, set up etc... except for one thing.... when you get the acrylic is there any other way to but it other then a huge saw in the table or lazer?? We have a homemade workshop for it but thats theonly prob. we Cant fig how to cut it w/o screwing up.

I dont think cutting Acrylic with a normal tablesaw blade is a good thing, as itll leave wave like grooves in the edge thatll Weaken the joint. I think the best blade to cut Acrylic is a full abrasive blade like what youd use in a dremel tool, only a 8-12" one.

But im no arcylic tank builder.

what u need to use is a router

clamp a straight edge onto the acrylic and route down the edge, it is also a good idea to route the edges if ned be to make sure all the peices are square and the same size

u can get a bit at any hardware store sears homedepot

did u get a whole sheet because i would love the other half for my plywood tank let me know of anymore questions i can be more precise if need be

I dont have a full sheet yet just scrap pieces to practice with so make sure we get things going good before the $$ comes out for the big stuff. I have a router but I mean that does great and stuff but say I wanted to cut 5 inches off or something, how do i go about doing that, I didnt think you can do that with a router?

the router is not just for the edge if you have a sheet and place a straight edge on the sheet. so if you want to cut 5" off and the bit is say 3" from the edge of the router place the straight edge 8" from the edge and run the router along it to cut a line and the 5" off. if that makes cense

MAKE DAMM SURE U USE A BLADE MADE FOR CUTTING PLEXI.... it carcks eay VERY easy
i agrre with yourmyluch router but AGAIN use a blade made for PLEXI..
i used a dremel with a special blade a while back to make a custom tube tank

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the company I use to work for, when we made such tanks
U should SEE the equiment we had ...NO saws at all..
very spendy tools...i

Wow, I don't have the patience to build anything. I can't even put together that crappy furniture from IKEA. I'll let the experts build my tanks.

I wish I had the time and money to build my own custom tank, I just like to buy them cheap and used. I want to one day set up one of those amazon tanks that looks exactly like the roots of trees in the wild (someone on here made one, but i forgot the name).

ive cut hundreds of pieces of acrylic, and glass for that matter. i would listen to joeytoe. the skilsaw blades that ive used wich are made for acrylic are good for cutting it, however not for an aquarium becouse the blade leaves sawblade grooves on the edge that could reduce contact with the seems when glued together. also never assume that a factory edge is square and check it yourself. you may even need to cut a corner perfectly square to start. be careful it does crack easily... :)

Tale it to a glass shop they cut acrylic.
