Has anyone kept a ray in a crylic tank with sand , was just wondering if they scratch the acrylic when they climb the front??Just on the verge of ordering a 8/3/2 tank but still in 2 minds to go glass or acrylic..

my rays marked the acrylic slightly but not a great deal.

the worst thing was cleaning the inside of the tank, if i wasent very careful sand got between the acrylic cleaner and the acrylic.

this is why i now have very small round pea gravel its much better than sand in the acrylic and the rays dont mind it at all, they still burry them selves when they want to and it never sticks to there discs.

Cheers for that , only problem with gravel is cleaning it..

If I were you, I'd go with glass. Acrylic scratches like mad, and over time, just looks foggy because of it. Gravel can be a pain, I agree, I hate gravel, lol, but it would reduce the scratches. Even still I think glass is your best bet with sand.

its a peace of piss mate, i can do full gravel clean and water change in an hour on my 8x4.

it used to take me longer to do 3 small tanks when i started fish keeping.

you just need a super vac like the one i built. loads bigger than the ones you can buy and dose twice as much at once.

What did you build that out of lol..
