Need some recommendations on what thickness of acrylic would suffice as a viewing window on a 8'x3'x2' (approximately 350 gallons) tank. I have been reading a lot of posts here on plywood tanks and have decided to plan my own. My first step is to price the acrylic.

Side note: could possibly end up going 8'x4'x2' simply for the fact that ply comes as a 4'x8' sheet. (less cutting for me) lol. Would this affect how thick the acrylic would need to be?

A guess would be 3/4, think 1/2 might have bowing issues. Any particular reason you dont want to use glass?

Could also do glass I suppose. Was figuring price/weight wise acrylic would be better. Would 1/2" in glass be ok?

Just to clarify, your tank will be 4' wide, not 4' high? if so, yes 1/2 glass should do nicely. While the acrylic will certainly save you weight, it might not do you any favors on price.

Very similar dimensions to a tank i was supposed to have started already, but put that on hold to make a smaller one for the girlfriend first lol. Anyway looking forward to your progress.
