acrylic to glass

can you attach acrylic or plexglass to a glass tank to make a wet/dry an sump.

I siliconed acrylic sheets inside of my 75 gallon to make a sump out of it. It worked well.

ok thats what i wanted to do with this 40 gallon tank i got but glass cages said you couldnt silicone acrylic to glass

Silicone doesn't stick well enough to acrylic to support water weight, but it is fine if there is water on both sides, such as in a sump.

so can i use it to make my overflows an if so what diamter plexi should i use in my 240 build.

You can use acrylic to make overflows, but you will need to bond the acrylic with cement, not silicone.

Look for Weld On acrylic epoxy.
