personally? i wouldnt... but seachem pond matrix is used for bio filtration and substrate, so its possible, but i dont see it working well in the long run.
Well, I don't intend to use it... It's just I'm curious about whats going to happen, how long can it last, or is it good for may fishes...
I using Good Carbon. In the tank for 3 days then pick out and stay sun for 2week then pick in tank for 3days then throw recycle. Carbon have good and bad in the your tank. i will looking on google. i cant remember 
Disadvantages of carbon as a substrate is too many for me to list them out.
