Does anyone else have a really active and friendly ghost knifefish? I have a 6" juvenile and expected him to hide a lot, got him a glass tube and everything....and he's the most active fish in my tank. He is constantly grazing around on the plants, swimming all over, and I could hand-feed him from the day I got him. He likes to play in my fingers and swim into the palm of my hand when I stick my hand in the tank, nibbles on my fingers, swims up and down the glass when he sees me. It's awesome....but odd?

Isn't this out of the norm? Just curious, before I got him I researched so much and everything I read said they are such a nocturnal fish and tend to hide, but mine certainly is not! Very nice surprise, I have to say, as I love watching him swim.

I have a video but my parrot is screaming in the background so I will spare you all the torture lol

Mine is 5 inch and it seems to be happy to swim around when i have the 20 watt tube on, but does not do what yours does that is amazing.
make sure you look after that fish and make sure you play in your hands because i think that you have something amazing

Mine is about the same size and acts the same way. He is really friendly and very curious. He will eat tiny pellets as well. I threw some in there for the other fish a while back and he ate some. It was really exciting. I feed him blood worms as well. I hope he doesnt lose these traits/habits.

i have a 6-7 inch and a 9-10 incher. The smaller of the 2 is very active. The bigger knife ocasionally comes out, but he's not as active as the little guy.

I stick my fingers in the tank and "call" him and he comes rushing out of wherever he is to play around in my fingers. Even if there is food in the tank, he will leave it to come play, and he has a voracious appetite. He will eat anything, even the parrot cichlids' pellets and loves the dried seaweed.

he's a strange little fellow.
