I have an 8 inch fh.. very active.. but has a swollen / bulging stomach. A bit confusing because he is eating and pooping well. I starved him for 2 days once.. but the bulge remained. Tank size is 48×15×24. Nitrates.. nitrites.. close to zero. 60% water changes twice a week. Overhead sump filter and internal filter.

Try going a week w/o feeding and see if it makes a difference. Good thing is it’s active and trying to eat. Is the poop normal looking? May just be an internal defect if all else is alright.
Also up ur water changes if the nitrates and nitrites are close to zero and not zero or increase ur filtration.

Is an internal defect possible? The poop is perfectly normal. And he's crazy active.. attacking my hand each time I siphon the gravel. Anyway.. thanks for replying.. I wouldn't have raised this query if he was sick with a bloated tummy.. but I was bewildered with this present condition ...
