Active gars

I agree. Gar don't really move around like arowana. They only move when they feed.

Mine move all the time. They will rest on the bottom of the tank for some periods, but for the most part, they are swimming all the time. It helps to have good water flow in the tank and have some other fish that swim alot. Also, don't overfeed them. If they are full all the time, then obviously they are not going to be active. I feed mine once to twice a week and give them good portions at that time.
 
Go watch your fish at 11-12pm with one light in the background on. Your fish will all be active including the gars, or at least mine are!
