Actual adult size for a RRS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mines around 7"... they get very thick and rounded as they mature, look like a pygo... and they lose their red and get very dark colored with a gold hue.

Don't get attached to the red.

@ Smoke, you wouldn't happen to have an updated pic of you guy laying around, would you? I'm really interested in seeing an adult. Oh and thanks for the heads up on the red....

Hey Smoke, do you use a light on your RRS tank? I left my light off for a couple days, using only natural room light to illuminate my RRS tank & I found that after the second day he was completely silver/gold and lost ALL red pigmentation on his cheeks and even eyes. I thought he was sick, but after turning the lights back on his colors made a full comeback in about 4 hours. I had no clue light could effect them like that..

when piranha rest they loose the color, my cariba and rhom are the same. you might just happen to catch it when it's resting or just coming out of a nap.

Just feed him well and healthy w/ warmer temps 82° and he'll grow out good!
