Woke up this morning and all was well, went and had breakfast and when I came back 2 hours later, DEAD Broko. Yep, $300 fish that was eating fine yesterday, taking massivore and shrimp and tilapia. DEAD. No warning signs, nothing. Did a dissection and found nothing out of the ordinary. No parasites, no abnormal growths or blockages, nothing. Only thing I can think is that these guys are super sensitive to water parameters. All of the normal things like nitrate and ammonia and all that are one thing, but I think these guys may be very sensitive to hardness and ph. Thats the only thing my water is out of range on is PH and kh/gh. Other cichla do fine it, apparently these guys do not. What a waste of a gorgeous fish and a chunk of cash.

Wont be anymore of them in my future thats for sure. I cant get soft water in the quantity I would need.

Damn man, that must of been a kick in the marble. Sorry for you loss man.

Sorry to hear.
When you're ready, try again don't give up.

Was tempted to filet his ass and get him in the fryer. Atleast I could have got a little something back for it.

Man, sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear that.

I can't get my water hardness down and ph down below 6.8.

I'm out of the cichla game and raising a spectacular umbee now.
