I went to the river today to try to catch more fish for my 75. My goal is to have 3-4 longear sunfish in it, and if my warmouth will get along with them to keep him in there too. If I can catch a madtom here, I wouldn't mind having one of them as well.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I caught a red spotted sunfih and 2 small longears. Unfortunately both of the longears had a pretty bad case of fin rot right out of the river. I set them up in quarranteen and treated them, but they both died. Today I took my 3 year old daughter with me to the river, unfortunately the river was high and a bit muddy so the fishing was slow. We only caught one fish, but it is a beautiful, healthy, amazingly colored longear. I was hoping to catch a few of them so that I could ad them all in at one time to keep aggression down, but I'll do them one at a time if I have to.

good luck getting more fish pkease post pic of the hole setup as well as your new catch

Here he is.

Not a great picture, he's still a little washed out, and I didn't have much time to snap...he was being chased by my redspotted sunfish at the time. My warmouth is the tank boss, and the redspot now thinks that he is the longears toady. Of course niether of them realize that I've primarily set this tank up to be a longear tank, so they are going to have to adjust. They actually aren't being too bad, but if they do get out of hand, I'll take the bullies out and put them in another tank for about a week to let the longear get comfortable and claim terratory, then I'll re-introduce the other guys to see if it works out.
