I decided to add some black gravel to my cherry shrimp tank... and now I'm not sure if it was a good idea. I washed the gravel thoroughly before adding. There is a large amount of bubbles/foam at the surface where the spray bar shoots water into the tank. Anyone know what is causing this and if it will eventually go away? All the shrimp are thriving so I don't think it is affecting them negatively..

Usually it's caused by organic material. Some aquarium gravels have rather nasty coatings on them. I've seen some actually rust.
I'd do a water change and see if it clears up.
