So, here's a picture of the set up I'm running. It's roughly 112 gallons, and I'm running a 300 watt heater in the sump. My water temperature isn't up to the 26 degrees I want it at ( not exactly sure what it is ), the bristlenose seem to be coping but the bolivian rams are very lethargic and I'm putting it down to temperature. I'm just wondering, is it my sump design that isn't allowing the heater to heat the water properly? Should I add another heater to the sump? Or should I add another heater into the tank holding the Rams? Thanks in advance! image.jpg

I have one 300 watt heater in my sump for my 365 gal system and it is fine. You may have the heater set to low or the heater isn't working right.

I had it on 26, then turned it up to 28, and it's still a little chilly. Ill get a thermometer today and check it. In the mean time ill swap it with the heater in the 150 and see if it is just the heater ( it's a brand new heater :/ )

Add another heater and a temp controller. Much more accurate and if one burns out you still have one functioning.

I have a similar setup with 12 x 15gals. I have a gorilla rack I would trust the square tubing more.

As to the heater if it doesn't work with the switch do the multi heater with a control.

This is my set up. I maintain ambient temp of 78f to heat the tanks no issues. There is three tanks per level. Just no lights on some. I just have ambient light for those.
