My LFS has a large male silver saum for £5...he is about 6-7" i currently have 4 female GT's around 4"....will he kill them? i thought i had a male in the group but looks like i don't.

My plan is to have a 2 fish tank and let them breed.

Only problem with the large male is he only has one eye (he has both, but has cataracts in one) ...hence why he is so cheap...other than that he is beautiful.

Sorry should of mentioned..

Its a 100 gallon (4ftx2ftx2ft) consisting of 4 green terrors,1 convict juvi and one texas juvi)

i wouldnt do it, he may kill them just to take over the territory because he will be the big male in the tank.

He'll most likely pair up with one of the female and they'll just take over part of the tank. I don't really see a problem since your intentions are to get a breeding pair anyway.

IMO he will be fine in the tank with the female GTs. Its the other fish I would worry about. Remember, varity is the spice of life...the male GT will have a choice of female and may rotate between the four. I had 1 male with 1 female. he killed her once she stopped breeding with him.

There is no other fish anymore except for a Small Convict.

I'm gonna buy him today and kep a close eye that he don't try and kill everything.

the fact that he is blind in one eye may help. ive heard of a couple cases where owners have blinded aggresive fish in one eye for breeding purposes so that they think there alone in the tank 50% of the time. i wouldnt recommend doing it intentionally , but that is what i have heard.
