This is a dumb question but it is something i have never done before so i believe that enquiring is better than loosing

I have a mature tank with a mature external filter, due to the size of the fish now i think i need to add another.
My thinking is to add the new external filter straight onto the tank as it surely wll not do any harm with a mature filter already running.

I can see no harm.

But something inside my head is niggling me, it's saying NO more has to be done.:screwy:

Am i right to have that niggle or not.

Yeah you're fine. As long as you keep the old filter running on it as well and give the new filter time to build up beneficial bacteria.

You can't go wrong with a extra filtration.
