Adding a new papyrocranus

Tank is 84x48x30
Stock almost 40 polys, spiny eel, tin foil barbs, gar
Have a papyrocranus afer about 8" have had 2 silver arowana with him no problem sold them had a monster jardini for a month or so np. A deal to good to pass up came along and I will be getting a similar sized papyrocranus congicus/congoensis I hope. If not another similar size afer. I was thinking to temper aggression I could put the old one in a container inside the tank like a reptile carrier thing and let him get used to to the other? Or add a bunch of caves or plants like anarcharis something where I can block line of sight. Any comments are appreciated.

Is your current afer aggressive at all? I used to have two together in a tank and they had no problems with each other,they even hung out together in the same hideaway.

Not recently had a pothos plant on a floating log that he liked being in the roots. Only polys could come close/inside the aros he'd chase away if they came close. He will steal food like shrimp/tilapia out of polys mouths when they're just holding it cause there already stuffed full.

Mine used to snatch food from other fish but now it eats pellets and gets it's fill.I would try them out in the same tank and see if they get along.

Mine will eat pellets but nails shrimp/tilapia.
I will try it of all goes well.

Anybody ever had a congoensis I've seen pics of a more striped one but I've seen pics of afer's with different patterns
