Adding air to powerhead loop

ok ..... simple question of powerheads/physics....

my powerhead (as many do) has an additional air tube (skinny)
which can be used to add air - and air bubbles - to the exhaust
if the cap is taken off

but now - even when i take the cap off - no air bubbles come out -
and instead, the air tube is partially filled with water

what is the process/procedure to once again make this air tube
functional?

It is in to far or not enough play with it a little it wii start sucking are again i have to do this with mine once and a while.

You powerhead and tubing is most likely dirty hence the suction is weaker. Another trick is to place the powerhead over some bubbles and let the bubbles get sucked up through the intake. The air will squirt out the powerhead.
