adding an xp3

I just bought an XP3 for my 55g and need advice on how I should add this filter. Currently, I have 2 Aquaclear 70's. Should I remove one of the AC70 and place the sponge & biomax in the XP3?

Yes, you can do that. Place the sponge and biomax in the middle of the other sponges that come with the XP3, or at the bottom.

I currently run an AC70 and an XP3 on my tank, and I run sponges, ehfisubstrat pro, and carbon/sponges in my XP3, and in my AC I run sponge, carbon, sponge in my AC70 and it keeps my tank crystal clear. I'd go ahead and run everything you have depending on your bio-load. If you have a heavily stocked tank, run everything, if not, run one XP3 and one AC70. If you do, remove the sponge and other non-carbon media and put in the XP3 for the first month or two to speed up the biofilter growth in the Xp3.
