Hey there guys , 3-4 days ago one fish got stuck and died in my aquarium hole rock so I take out the stone to remove it and the rock was left outside the aquarium for 3-4 days without water , today rn I have to add it to aquarium so I just washed it with water (I get water from underground boring wells ) and done the hot water - cold water steps to neutralize the rock if it get any germs or microorganisms as it was in direct sunlight in past days ,

So guys quick question should I add it directly to aquarium or take a bucket of aquarium water with

I don't think there is anything that could "infect" the rock while it was sitting in the sun that would survive and cause issues for your fish underwater.

Generally there are not diseases sitting above water waiting to find there way to water and kill fish, that just wouldn't make sense. The only thing to worry about using outdoor items is perhaps pesticide exposure if that is an issue in your area.

Now if we are talking saltwater and this is live rock then you now have a host of tiny invertebrates dead inside that will need time to rot away otherwise they will spike your ammonia. When I had this situation I let them soak in a bucket of water and changed the water a few times until the rock didn't stink, process took a few weeks. Perhaps could have boiled it but the rocks were too big.

If freshwater just a rinse is fine IMO.

Actually, sitting outside in the hot sun is a pretty good method of "disinfecting" a rock to begin with.

Your worried tone suggests that this rock was already cleaned and unnecessarily "treated" to within an inch of its life the first time you put it into your tank. You didn't need to do that then...and you certainly don't need to repeat the whole performance now. Put the rock into your tank and relax.

As O Omrit mentioned, this is assuming we are talking about a freshwater tank.

Geeze, I don't even bother more than hosing off any debris before throwing new rocks in my tank. Certainly wouldn't do more than that for one that's just been dry for a couple days.
