Dear fellow hobbyist,

I've searched on the internet for hours and couldn't find any help, so I joined here. My LFS has several royal plecos (Panaque nigrolineatus L190) for sale, and I really want one. I know the Panaque species grow slow and the Cichla grow fast, but if I keep the Cichla well fed should I be able to grow the 2 species of fish together without ever separating them? The royal pleco at the LFS is about 2.25 inches long and my two Cichla monoculus are about 3.5 inches (Iv'e had them for about a month and a half). My initial thought is obviously the bass will eat anything they can fit into their mouths, but the royal plecos have really long pectoral and dorsal fins that must be considered. I also feel like peacocks tend to ignore plecos. If anyone has any experience raising peacock bass with slow growing panaques I would greatly appreciate your input!!! (I also posted this in the cichla forum)

(I currently have a 180 gallon tank (used to be planted, but now I just have frogbit floating on top). There is a large 6 foot piece of drift wood in there covered in algae, along with another smaller piece of wood. Besides the 2 bass, I also have a leopard sailfin pleco (L165) that's around 2.5 inches long.)

I had 6"-7" peacock bass with my 4" royals 3 Kelberi and 2 Azuls with no problem at all my peacock didn't pay them any mind.

Thanks Rotaryp04s. I'm gunna try it.

You welcome, I notice cichla dnt really pay attention to bottom dweller types fishes, mid level swimmer and even top swimmer they pay more attention to so stuff that lay on the bottom most of the time is fine.
