Not my experiance. I have a 65 gallon with 3 yellow blaze haps 1 m2f---1 lemon jake male 4 inches 1 red peacock 4 inches male 3 synodontis petricola. I added 2 4.5 inch female peacocks and the males colored up like crazy. Very little chasing if any. My secret maybe is my wave maker in front of my texas Holey rock. All the fish seem to enjoy swimming in the current. I turned it off for a couple of days and their was a lot of fighting and chasing. I turned it back on the fighting and chasing stopped. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but the current keeps the males busy and they are fully colored up. Tank mates have been in there since Nov. 2012. Females added 3 months later.
