adding new filter media (ceramic ring)

help!!!
i am currently running a established tank..i have already put 4 kg of ceramic ring in my filter. now my question is.....is it a good idea to add 1kg new ceramic ring in the filter....i am little bit scared, if it will harm to my fish....btw i am using one canister filter rated 2000l and one 4 feet over head fiter.....red or chocolate ( color not sure ?) one is already in the filter and new one is white....please see the pic ?...also have a thin layer of sand in the tank.

Don't be afraid adding more ceramic rings won't cause an issue. More beneficial bacteria the filter will develop.
