I have a 5" aggressive jag cichlid. He is just a bully. He is beautiful though so I'd like to keep him. Tomorrow I am getting a jardini arowana and wanted to assure that I don't get him beat up or stressed out. I was thinking about putting the jag in a 5 gallon bucket with a air sponge filter.(that already has good bacteria in it so I don't have to worry about ammonia). I was going to wait about 2 or 3 days before re introduce the jag. Please let me know is this is a good or bad idea and if you have any better ones, I am open. I have a grow out tank but the tank is full of Texas cichlids that the jag would devour in 20 minutes. Please let me know your thoughts thanks

whats the tank size? you are essentially mixing C4 and an electric charge when you know the jag is already aggressive and jardinis are almost always murderous little devils. Chances are its going to be a duel for turf and depending on size differences it could be either one the winner.

probally not going to work the jag will see any tank as his territory and will attack anything new. that is the promblem with cichlid thats why I went to chacins. They are easier to mix in a community setting.

I know with my other african tank. I can take individuals out that show some aggression and put them up for 3 days or so. When I release them the territory is reset and they loose there aggression. Does this not work for other cichlids?
