adding plants to my sump for nitrate removel what would work better?

So my 200 gal tank is running 40PPM on the nitrate with 50% water changes every two weeks. I am thinking of adding plants to my sump to reduce nitrates.
I have a 2'x1' area in my sump that has consistent water level.
So I was thinking ether "A" adding water lettuce to this section or "B" adding a land plant like a Philodendron.
I will install a simple plant lite on a timer to provide adequate lighting
I just want to know which one you guys think will suck up the most nitrates and be the best long term addition?

Pothos would be ideal as they consume the most n03, click my sig for more info, my plants consume 25ppm/week apprx.

You want to use a fast growing plant to reduce nitrates. Duckweed can be used, but it can also be a nuisance. Floating water sprite also grows quickly and reduces nitrates. Floating plants in general reduce more nitrates due to the fact that they have more access to carbon dioxide in the air which enables them to grow faster.

and that is why I was thinking water lettice or porthos both are above the water plants with just the roots submerged.

I dont even want to know how much freaking duck weed it would take to lower my nitrates--LOL
