adding sand/gravel

i have a bare bottom tank right now and im thinking of maby adding sand or gravel.. any tips to make it work?

drain some water, rinse the gravel before you add it and dump it in. this shouldnt cause any problems in your tank because your not killing any bacteria. just try to rinse as good as you can.
