Hey, I have a 50lbs bag of pool filter sand I want to add to my 75g, should I do anything special while adding sand? I was thinking to just turn off the filter (AC110) so it doesn't get clogged. Anything else?

i put all my sand in a large gatoraid bottle. Pack it in then put it in the tank. Turn the bottle upside down and let the sand pour out. As the sand leaves you will notice a hudge cloud inside the bottle. All the cloudiness and crap is left inside the bottle. Lift out the dirty bottle and pour down the drain. Should keep tank completely clear if you do it right. Theres a video on youtube of how to do it.

lower the water as low as u can, that helps a lot! remove and fish who may be stressed by the process.

also, give it a good cleaning before u put it in the tank, but u already knew im that. ;)

Neat idea! I bet this will work! Other wise I would say rinse the hell out of it and put it in slowly. If the water is getting cloudy, stop.
