I currently have a 150 gal with
2-plecos ( large 1 -18" and 1- 10")
3- Afra mara lion
3 - Troph. aurora
10 - aratus
4 - white top afra
1 - Dempsey...An orphan from my neighbor

My question is could i add a colony of 8-10 Tropheus red moliro to my tank. I realize that tropheus do do well on a high protein diet so could i switch my current food veggie based flakes and feed regular cichlid flakes less often....I really love the way the moliros look and would love to add them but not at the peril of them or my other fish...I have another 150 gal tank sitting in my garage but i think my wife would kill me if i set up another tank
Any input would be greatly appreciated.....

You will get better responses if you post in the african cichlid section.

lol
i honestly think that the trophs will do well in that set up!
the thing you need to be careful about is the diet - i don't really know what those other fish are eating, but i think if you stick with foods like NLS cichlid or something that is veggie based you are going to be fine. i really like the rock work and i think the trophs will really love it too.
can't wait for them to arrive and have them get going in that tank of yours! post pictures once they arrive!!

I have Spirulina flakes...I thought 1/2 spirulina and 1/2 reg ( low protein) flakes... Hey..worst case senerio i'll have two tanks set up and 1 less wife....Just kidding hun............
But not really....I cant wait till they get here...will post pics asap

Happy to say that so far so good....Trophs are really liking their new surroundings...So far there has been gentle tank behavior..No dust ups....Seems like everyone in my tank is happy to see some new faces...The trophs are really enjoying the algae covered rocks in my tank...They eat their veggie flakes well ..so do the Mbuna...They dont seem interested in the cichlid pellets i feed the mbuna....I have another tank in the garage that i set up with modest accomedations in case there is a problem...wifey said no more big tanks in the house...I know tese pics are horrible....Its a bright day here....night pics are always better...I post some better pics tonight of the trophs..
