Adding water softener

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what will be the difference from now to then in hardness? I would just do some small water changes once the softner is in place to acclimate them over, rather than doing large water changes. Depending on how soft the softner makes you water you may have problems maintaining your pH from now on. You may have to add a buffer everytime or keep some crushed coral in your ray system somewhere.

No well, fed from a community system. have tests for kh and gh so will test before and after install. I'm currently on a drip system which will change over my tank water in about a week, should I slow the rate down. Will the higher concentrations of soium have any negative affects

Really glad you posted this...I was going to post the same thing very soon. I am also putting in softener/ purifier system and wondered what I would need to do for my rays.
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread...lol
Im also on city water, and mine has been having weird stuff show up in it. Im hoping the water system will take care of that.
