So I want to add water to my tank because I never filled it all the way. So I want to do it today because my levels went back to normal (I had a little spiking in my levels after adding some more fish). So anyway how should treat my water? Should I add the chemicals after adding my water to my tank? Or beforehand? Or does it matter? Or what?

Thanks guy, looking forward to see what you guys think

Depends if the inhabitants in your tank need the special chemcials, such as live plants. If you don't then just add a quality water conditioner like Seachem Prime, and you are good to go.

It's always best to add Prime to the new water before placing it in the aquarium. If this can't be done, then dose the Prime on the entire tank - full. Read the directions on the bottle. Have you not done water changes before?

I use prime. If you use a python or a hose to fill directly to the tank make sure to add enough of the chemical to treat the ENTIRE tank. If you fill up buckets then dump them into the tank, it is ok to dose just the water in the buckets.

I dose buckets because it saves me money by not dosing the entire tank. Also, a little heavy lifting never hurt anyone!
