my girl needs to add windows to her Apple Imac leopard for some small programs she needs to use for school. She is considering using boot camp, trying to find out about windows xp oem version or if that sucks. Please help.
put in the install disk it came with, create another partition that is formatted as FAT32 (pick whichever OS you want to be main as the primary partition) and install windows on that particular partition.
thanks for the response, she hase not purchased windows yet, something about oem versus regular whatever that means.Does it work good through boot camp. She is not with me or this would be easier but thanks for any help.
you can in stall a virtual copy of xp inside the mac os so she can run whatever programs she needs to run. Games however will not run in the virtual environment. Applications that don't require the direct 3d rendering will work without a problem. I used to run windows inside of linux for some apps that I had to use but couldn't run in linux. The program I used to do this is called virtualBox. (http://www.virtualbox.org/) But other programs lime vmware can do the same. Virtual box is free though but you will need a windows cd to install with.
Hope this helps you. If you decide to go this route and you run into problems then let me know and I will see if I can help you out further.
