going to the aquarium store today considering purchasing a new american cichlid for my tank. its a 150g with a smallish midevil, similar sized festae and a few other fishes such as loaches, catfish etc. does anyone have any recommendations on fish i should buy? the store has a great selection of cichlids. i was only thinking of getting one.

but can you see how having two 4 inch fish in a 150 would seem like a bit of a waste? im prepared for when they reach adult size (extra tanks) but im just looking for something to fill the void until then

forget the size of the fish and the size of the tank for a second. which species of cichlid would you ideally have with the 2 that there already are?

I wouldn't look at it as a waste, but more of less waste to clean. That means less water changes and healthier fish that can be really nice adults.

this is true. i suppose my initial cichlid choices should have been a bit smarter. they arent the types known to play well with others. off topic question. How long would it take a festae to reach 8-10 inches in length?
