Additions to CITES

I came across this article recently, any thoughts on ray prices or issues with the increased regulation/limitations for CITES III? I realize Brazil already highly governs their ray exports but now Columbia is taking a a step forward with quite a few species.

I didn't check for accuracy but I assume it's the same thing covered.

Appendix III just means you need proper permits to export. Captive breeders can probably still sell them. Our sturgeon are appendix II (slightly more strict) and we still import 40,000-80,000 eggs per year from Germany. It is totally legal, but it involves the oversight of customs and Fish & Wildlife.

My guess is they will still be around, but the price will go up as poaching goes down.

Remember that it's IBAMA that regulated ray exportation out of Brazil. Cites is probably just additional paperwork now.
