Two days ago, I introduced a female Green Terror to my "batchelor" male, and after a whirlwind courtship (he swept her off her "fins") they got down to spawning. Here are the couple showing serious interest in furthering their species.

Love hearing about this guy.

I recalled that he was a bachelor for a while and eager to breed with somethiing else. What is the source of your male? He has a very long body. I wonder if it is a wild strain or close to a wild strain. I have a domesticated strain that has a tall body. The contrast in body shape is so huge that they look like two different species.

Yes they sure are different. I believe the deeper body is a result of line breeding for that trait. The parents of my fish were F1.

This pair of Green Terrors spawned on July 25th, and it is now about 3 days post hatching. They have kept the fry right near the spawning site, moving them from the egde of the rock (where you see them now) to under a large piece of driftwood behind the rock. I forgot how tiny GT fry are. The wrigglers are being closely guarded by the female at all times, and the male is on a "search and destroy" mission, which would include me (if he could get at me ). He's giving me the "once over" (i.e. evil eye). They've got this 'united front' thing down pat.
