Hey guys been a while since I been on here, was just wanting some advice, I need to bring my Haits from my old house to my new. He is in a ten gallon and is about 3.5 inch. The drive is about 2 minutes. I had some bad experience with these guys but finally grew this one from half inch and I'm worried about him getting bloat when I move him.

My plan was to get new tank to exact temp which is 84. Drop the ten gallon that he is in to half then cover with towel and bring the whole tank over to new tank. Slowly add the new tank water to ten gallon then quickly grab him and put in new tank.
Think this is least stress!

Guys who have had success moving Haits would love to hear from you. Thanks!

I moved my hait in a 5 gallon bucket on a 2 hour drive, without a problem, twice.
I did use a battery operated air pump the 2nd time, but he was then over 12" that time.
I'd be afraid the bottom would drop out of a half filled ten gallon.

Bag him up or put him in a bucket. A two minute drive is nothing. You don't even need an air pump or bottled O2 for that length of time.

not worried about air, im only concerned about haits bloat issues. duanes both time you moved your boy you said he isover 12 inch? when do haits loose there issues woth bloat? 4 inch right?

As Ryan said, a 2 minute ride is nothing. A nice tight bag or covered bucket should be fine, in fact with those methods there's less chance of a chill than a half filled 10 gal, and the chill is what I worry about where I live.
They are always prone to bloat if their conditions aren't right.

thanks for yoyr help guys, I will post a pic when he is all settled! There is definitly something different about these guys and I think he will end up being my favourite fish!
