My brother is going thru a nasty divorce, and I noticed his 30 gal fish tank was turning green....

So I brought it home today. Rescued the one fish out of it (a neon) and its happy in my 10 gal, but what do I do with the "new" 30? There is a lot of algae caked on the glass, but the rocks, etc. from inside are fairly clean. I've had it sitting all day in the hot florida sun, and removed whatever gunk came off easy with a paper towel. But there is still a lot of it left...

SO... what to do? I can think of

1) Let it dry, then scrape off algae, fill, cycle, add fish

2) Nuke it with scrub brush and bleach, do lots of rinsing, cycle, add fish

3) Nuke it with scrub brush and something else not quite so nuking as bleach - vinegar perhaps? - then lots of rinsing, cycle, add fish.

One of these work? Something else recommended?
