A buddy of mine bought a 1.5 inch RTC about 1.5 years ago..its now 18 inches long and was to big for him to house any longer so I have taken him in to raise...I have him indoors in a 5.5' x 2.5' water trough for the winter time and once the weather warms up Ill have an intex pool setup and ready for him outdoors...His name is Bruce..he was named after the shark on finding nemo.

I had to do a make shift filter until this weekend when I can build something a little better

Any ideas for filtration for a 12 foot round pool/pond would be great...I have a sand filter I could use or I can do a custom filtration.

DIY section has tons of filter ideas. The bio-load is more important to know than the size of the pond/pool. Sand filters work great, assuming properly sized for the bio-load = roughly lbs of fish. However, I think sand filters need very good mechanical pre-filters that should be checked and cleaned often and not allowed to clog.

I'd be very careful with random materials like the wood plank you have there and the metal handle on the bucket. If they contact water, that's no good. Even if they don't, a condensate may run/drip down from them and contaminate the water.

Catfish don't appreciate lights, they stress them out. IMO, indirect room light would do.

You can rather easily insulate your above-ground pool and run it year round. It's been done even up north, e.g., in Seattle. If you do it right, your heater may barely run or you can use well/tap water to keep it warm or the sun-light-based heaters, etc.

Sorry, if you know all or some of the above. Good luck, mate!
