Well I just got this 1 yr old ball python from my ex >.>. But more importantly I noticed it may have an RI. Her mouth seems to have some mucus like stuff on it. Also I heard her "whistling". She was in the cold for a bit, because she was in a cold car then outside for like a minute or so. I left her in her tank for a bit then took her out. At first she was not whistling at all and then she hissed but was fine for about 3 minutes, in a humidish room then as I was bringing her back to her tank she whistled some more. I haven't noticed any gaping yet and her tongue is still forked. And she has a retained eyecap -_-. I'm not experienced in dealing with an RI so I was wondering if there were anyways to medicate the snake my self or diagnose it. If I have to bring her to the vet how much will it cost?

just crank up the air temps a few degree buddy! and keep her dry!! if its a very mild case of RI this will help!! If not its normally a weeks supply of Baytril with needle!(Vet job) Eye cap problem!! you"ll have to sort out when your maybe RI is clear! Becouse you need to soak snake in 1-2 inch of luke warm water! then put snake into damp pillow case for a wile!!(should work)

alright thanks!
have any idea on the price of the injections?

Depends on the vet. Also most vets will make you pay an office visit or something like that as well. A few will make you pay a new patient fee. Just call around and you can get a quote.

Edit : sorry for double reply

take it to the vet. With snakes one cannot delay.

*sigh* alright. He ate a mouse though, I was aware if they had an RI they wouldn't eat?

some do eat. It is a good sign, a sign that it wants to live, but do not loose time. We loose time with snakes, most of the time it is too late.

alright I'll try and find a vet.. dang vets like to steal money though -_-

Like Miguel said though - by the time you are noticing symtoms you've already lost time. Reptiles go down hill extremely fast. That is why I said to call around and ask for quotes.
