I'm looking for some fish that are near adult size, at least 8" already, maxing out at around 15" for my 125 gallon tank.
I don't really care too much for looks, though I do want fish with personality. Bottom-dwellers are preferred, but not required. Catfish are cool. Cheap fish are always better than expensive ones. Haha. Long fins might be too flimsy for this tank.
In a nutshell - my dad bought me an arowana back when I was in middle school (I'm in college now). He refuses to return him. The poor guy's a bit stunted, but he's been around 2' long for a while now and looks pretty good anyhow. Lives quite happily with 2 large severums (around 8", both) and a fat and sassy JD.
My dad now lives in Taiwan, I'm at college, and so my mom takes care of the fish. My mom is anal about food falling to the bottom of the tank, and also wants to see more fish and such. Serious empty-nest syndrome, so you can expect these fish to be pampered and cared for pretty well. She's no fish person though - so I don't want to waste money on a really cool wildcaught cichlid, haha. Besides, I'd be jealous of my mom. =P
So I'm looking for any big fish that can cruise around with those fellows, but are fairly mild mannered up to semi-aggressive. The aro is the gentlest thing I've ever seen - I sometimes "pet" him for the fact that I'm petting an aro, haha.
